9 June 1943 Channel Islands Sea Defence diary
Weather: wind 270°, 5 m/sec. At 09:30, Alert Level I was lifted.
At about 18:00, the fishing boat G.U. 56, two nautical miles north-east of Herm in grid square B.F. 3547 lower centre, was sunk by an explosion, probably a mine, while hauling what appeared to be a drifting net supported by egg-shaped cork floats. Two fishermen drowned and two were rescued by another fishing boat.
