9 July 1944

At 03:56 Battery Ile de Cezembre fired eleven rounds at enemy targets in grid square 3845, bearings 295 and 300 degrees, range 176–180 hectometres. The battery intervened in agreement with St Malo Convoy Control while German escort forces fought an enemy cruiser and two destroyers. The enemy ships turned away after being fired upon; no hits were observed.
