9 July 1940 Reconnaissance of Jersey and Guernsey
1600: The commander takes off for the English Channel Islands to reconnoitre all fortifications thoroughly again for weapons.
1630: Arrival on Jersey. At St Helier, discussion with the harbour surveillance office and the commander of the naval assault platoon still on Jersey. The island has meanwhile been thoroughly reconnoitred by Navy and Army. No modern fortifications or batteries are present. Communications with Guernsey are being prepared; communications with St Malo already exist.
1830: Onward flight to Guernsey. Discussion with the harbour surveillance office, commander of the naval assault platoon still on the island, and commander of the Army units deployed there, Major Dr Lanz. There are no fortifications on the island.
