9 January 1943 St Malo Convoy Control Office

Weather: East to south-east force 4–5, visibility 2–3 nautical miles, short swell from south-east. 0015, Cherbourg: five boats of 2nd Torpedo Boat Flotilla sailed as ordered. Remark: on enquiry, 3rd Security Division decided that V 703/04's convoy should be cancelled because of the torpedo boats' late departure. 0140, Malo: M 4612/02/04/05 arrived from Granville. 0340, Cherbourg: five boats of 2nd Torpedo Boat Flotilla returned. 0430, Malo: V 212/09 anchored in roads with Holland.

Convoy requests: (1) night troop convoy from Malo, Holland to Jersey, Rob. Müller 8 and H 49, carrying troops, to Guernsey; (2) Hydra and Schwalbe Cherbourg–Alderney. Assigned: (1) V 711/22 and V 207; (2) V 703/04.

Report to 3rd Security Division. Situation: (1) V 210 minor repairs at Cherbourg; (2) V 213 rest at Cherbourg; (3) V 703/04 ready at Cherbourg; (4) V 711/22 and V 207 night troop convoy of 9/10 January from Malo, Holland to Jersey, H 49 and Rob. Müller 8 to Guernsey; (5) V 212/09 complete night troop convoy of 8/9 January Jersey–Malo, then readiness; (6) C Group of 46th Minesweeper Flotilla, M 4612 and V 208 ready at Malo. Escorted tonnage: 3,400 GRT. [Cancelled and corrected to none on 10 January.]

Intentions for 10 January: (1) V 210 minor repairs at Cherbourg; (2) V 213 rest at Cherbourg; (3) V 703/04 with Schwalbe and Hydra Cherbourg–Alderney at 0430; (4) V 711/22 and V 207 complete night troop convoy of 9/10 January Malo–Jersey–Guernsey; night of 10/11 January V 711/22 return convoy to Malo, V 207 ready at Guernsey; (5) M 4600/01/06 independently Malo–Granville, collecting combined convoy to Jersey–Guernsey there; (6) V 208/09/12, M 4602/03/05/04/07 and M 4612 ready at Malo [boat list as typed].

1400, Malo: I departed for Nostang to act for the Commander of 3rd Security Division. Lieutenant Commander Wunderlich took over my duties. During the day the pending tasks were cancelled owing to weather. Draft signed Dr Diederichs; certified correct, Wunderlich, Lieutenant Commander.
