2245: Three unidentified aircraft approach Cherbourg restricted area and signals peninsula from 3 at 3,000 m. One gives valid recognition signal under fire; other two turn west. At 2310 one crashes on Alderney. Two crew members recovered. Type: Bristol Blenheim. No bombs or mines dropped. No casualties or material damage [as stated].
