Alderney and the Channel Islands command reported repeated movements of destroyers, landing ships, transports and escorts around Cherbourg, Alderney, Guernsey and Jersey. St Malo reported continued bombardment and close fighting. The Fortress Commandant requested that the hospital ship Vorderau, with a doctor, be sent from Jersey to St Malo to receive approximately 500 wounded. Naval personnel still at the front were ordered to remain in action, while harbour demolitions and the destruction of equipment that could not be evacuated continued.
The surviving Roll 4009 sequence ends with operational maps showing the changing front on 8 and 9 August and a forwarding sheet for the Marinegruppenkommando West war diary. No separate narrative entry for 9 August survives in this section beyond the accompanying situation maps.
