Diary Entry

5 March 1943 Review of Schokland rescue and Alderney harbour

5 January, 0259–0830, pages 9–10: the conduct of patrol-boat pair V 212/209 in rescuing Schokland's shipwrecked men deserves the highest recognition. Both boats committed themselves fully to rescue, disregarding the danger in the rocks off St Helier. This was expressly confirmed by V 212's commanding officer's acquittal in the court-martial proceedings and in the reasons for the judgment.

14 January, 0900, pages 25–26: Commander, Security Forces West has commented on Alderney's unfavourable harbour conditions when submitting 7th Patrol Boat Flotilla's diary for 1–15 January, G 2213 of 3 March 1943.

Additional instruction to 3rd Security Division, concerning 5 January 0920, page 11 and related entries: the Division's explanation does not show whether any measures were taken, and if so which, to retain control of the ten French fishing cutters' transfer, or what St Malo Convoy Control Office did in this regard. For Commander, Security Forces West, Chief of Staff; signed [appears “Hagen”; uncertain].
