3 October 1944 Island convoys and Battery Blücher action

Naval situation. A. Channel: convoy traffic Cherbourg–England in the morning and afternoon; one auxiliary aircraft carrier observed. West of Guernsey on 3 October, a total of fourteen freighters heading towards St Malo and in the opposite direction. Destroyers observed in the southern and northern waiting positions. A convoy from Guernsey to Sark and back completed.

At 1424–1454 Battery “Blücher” on Alderney fires on an enemy coastal patrol boat northeast of the island. After straddling salvoes the target reverses course and moves out of range, where it joins three escort destroyers.
