3 November 1941 Channel Islands Harbour Commandant diary — attack on F.L.B. 502
St Helier: wind north-east, force 3–4; visibility ten nautical miles. La Corbière light was shown from 01:00 to 05:00 at the request of Marko Normandie.
St Peter Port, 15:15: approximately six nautical miles north-east of St Peter Port, F.L.B. 502 was attacked successively by four, three and one English aircraft with machine-gun and 2 cm fire. The aircraft approached at 150 metres and descended to 50–60 metres.
Killed: Generalmajor of Engineers Vara; Kapitän zur See Mirus; Major Somogyoar; machinist Bruhn; radio operator Thesmer. [Names retained as typed in the source.] Four seriously wounded and two slightly wounded.
16:30: H.S. 192 and H.S. 194 proceeded to the scene. 16:35: V.P. 208 followed with a doctor aboard. 16:40: motorboat Seewacht followed. 18:30: Seewacht returned with the wounded. 18:50: H.S. 192, H.S. 194 and V.P. 208 returned.
