3–5 June 1943 Channel Islands battery construction

No special occurrences for 3–5 June. Construction report, Naval Artillery Battalion 604.

Batterie Mirus: battery personnel continued the service building. Krupp fitters continued work at No. 1 gun. Work began on the stairways and inner walls at Nos. 2, 3 and 4 guns. The substructure of anti-aircraft position II was poured; shuttering at position I was completed; excavation at positions III and V continued.

Batterie Strassburg: the lighting cable was almost complete. Wire obstacles at the stairwell and battery exit were begun.

Batterie Steinbruch: Organisation Todt continued excavation at anti-aircraft positions I–III and the water tank, and embankment work at No. 4 gun. The washing and toilet facilities in the main fire-control post were completed. MAZA personnel worked on the cable connections between the post and guns and on the post’s telephone system. The fortress-engineer staff poured the base of field-type searchlight position A, shuttered the second half of the galley roof and continued its reinforcement. Battery personnel continued the communal barrack and began the equipment shed.

Batterie Lothringen: pouring of the lower storey of the fire-control post began. Excavation began for the gate-watch accommodation and the daytime accommodation at searchlight B. No. 4 gun was painted. The Annes reports entered here cover 23–29 May and 30 May–5 June and appear under their respective dates.
