Diary Entry
28 June 1944
The German high command assessed that the Allies were unlikely to assault the Channel Islands directly and would instead attempt to force their surrender by cutting their supply routes. Stocks were to be conserved and personnel not required for the islands' defence transferred to the mainland where possible. The diary judged that capture of Granville and St Malo would almost completely sever island supply. [T-1022/2174, PG 38469, scans 0470 and 0514]
