28-30 August 1944

Battery Annes, Alderney, engaged a J-class destroyer west of Alderney; it made smoke, reversed course and withdrew at high speed. Attempts by two armed fishing cutters from Jersey to reach Cezembre were prevented by enemy motor torpedo boats. On 30 August Battery Mirus, Guernsey, engaged a convoy of four LSTs and a destroyer north-west of Guernsey, while the Alderney Artillery Group engaged a torpedo boat north-east of Alderney. Both enemy groups withdrew without an observed hit. [T-1022/2175, scans 0254-0276]
