Normandy radar reporting station — 1943-10-27

Night 27/28 October. Wind E–SE1–2, visibility 5–6, sea 0–1. Radar aircraft north and west of Alderney; one warning signal. Enemy ship carrying radar from BF3188 to 3185, course north, 21 knots; one locating signal. Four locating signals for navigational assistance.

Fighter Leader 5, situation 27 October 1943. 1140–1144: Maritime surveillance flight by several aircraft in mid-Channel north of Cherbourg. 1146–1152: Surveillance flight by several aircraft in coastal area of Portland Bill. 1247–1302: Several aircraft approach coast north of Cherbourg; depart north. 1312–1430: Several reconnaissance flights by individual aircraft into Dieppe, Caen, Bayeux, Cherbourg, Le Havre, Rouen and Channel Islands areas; depart on reciprocal course. 1547–1615: Many aircraft approach Cherbourg area; visual report of six Bostons and 26 single-engined monoplanes; depart north. 1605–1612: Several aircraft on maritime surveillance southeast of Exeter. 1830–2114: Individual and several aircraft enter from mid-Channel north of Caen via Léttonds [place-name reading uncertain] and Cherbourg; some head towards Rennes and Les Sables, others fly into Paris area. Return flights on reciprocal course. 1928–2100: Maritime surveillance flights by several aircraft in sea area north of Channel Islands.
