Editorial note: The itinerary dates the Camaret battery visit to 26 November 1943. This mainland inspection is included only for its explicit reference to Channel Islands gun camouflage.
At Camaret battery, the Commander-in-Chief criticised the heavy guns’ camouflage nets. The guns were to be camouflaged with “mushrooms”, as in the Channel Islands, and the result checked by aerial photography.
