26 January 1942 St Malo convoy diary
The ordered convoys were only partly carried out because of the weather. Independent dispositions by harbour commandants over escort vessels in harbour are to cease. St Malo’s harbour commandant is to be commended for taking particular account of the weather and shortage of escort vessels. Situation: V 205/V 206 sailed without convoy from Jersey to Malo; M 4005/M 4003 sailed from Jersey to Guernsey with Diamant and Adolph le Prince; V 213/M 4010 sailed from Malo to Granville and returned with Nestor, Bizerte, Holland, Comptoir 51 and H 16 for Jersey, then Malo; M 4008/M 4003 sailed from Guernsey to Jersey with Hubbastone.
Intention for 27 January, weather permitting: V 213/V 206 at 12:00 from Malo with Robert Muller 8, H 23, Karel and Derfflinger for Jersey, then with Karel and Derfflinger to Guernsey; V 213/V 206 to take Rabat, Comptoir 51 and Holland from Jersey to Guernsey; M 4007/M 4000 without convoy to Cherbourg on the evening of 26 January for coaling; M 4005/M 4004 at Guernsey; V 208 under repair; V 212 docked; V 205 ready at Malo. Escorted tonnage on 26 January: 4,417 gross registered tons.
