Normandy radar reporting station — 1943-12-26
Night 26/27 December. Wind NNW–W1–2, visibility 5–8 nautical miles, sea 1–2. Air Force FuMO302 (air reporting), Goldfisch on Guernsey, reports two to three enemy targets 2145–2312. 2145: BF3575 lower-left edge, course 25°, speed 30 knots. 2218: BF3575 upper-edge centre, 0°, 30 knots. 2233: BF3572 upper-edge centre, 330°, 24 knots. 2242: BF3548 upper-left corner, 315°, 17 knots. 2255: BF3544 centre, 315°, 9 knots. 2312: BF3544 upper-left corner, 315°, 9 knots; targets lost. From tube display, course and speed probably MGBs. All detections passed from 2145 to Sea Commandant Channel Islands, Brittany Radar Centre, St Malo convoy control. Admiral Channel Coast and Naval Group West informed. Four enemy signals transmitted.
Münsterland convoy 1830 for Le Havre as scheduled. No enemy movements. Set commanders at relevant sets. FuMO214 Arromanches produces unreliable, erratic detections. Partly operational FuMO51 La Pernelle employed 2016–2158 to provide uninterrupted coverage of convoy’s passage.
