Diary Entry

25 February 1942 St Malo convoy diary

Weather remained unpredictable with driving snow. The available V 205/V 206 sailed from St Malo to Guernsey without convoy; V 207/V 210 took Robert Müller 8 to Jersey. No further convoys sailed because no more patrol boats were available.

Situation: V 208/V 213 ready Cherbourg; strong seas still prevented escorting, with another attempt for Alderney intended at 22:00. V 205/V 206 St Malo–Guernsey without convoy because of weather. V 210/V 207 with Robert Müller 8 to Jersey, then Diamant and Hubbastone for Granville [the following entry records this leg as delayed until 26 February]. V 211 boiler cleaning. V 204 magnetic-protection repairs and V 209 ready Cherbourg. V 212 ready St Malo. Escorted tonnage: 2,442 GRT.

Intention for 26 February: V 208/V 213 at 01:00 with Midsland from Alderney to Cherbourg. V 205/V 206 from Guernsey with Ad. le Prince, Rabat and Tourane for Jersey, H 23 and Derfflinger for St Malo; collect Holstein, B 113 S and two barges at Jersey for St Malo, with Comptoir 66 and Holland for Granville. V 210/V 207 from Granville with troop transports Favorit, Helma and Claus Wilhelm for Jersey, Maas for Guernsey and RO 8 for Alderney. V 211 boiler cleaning. V 204 to return Guernsey–St Malo after timely degaussing trials; V 209 ready Cherbourg; V 212 ready St Malo. Only two sections were available, preventing further convoys.
