St Malo. Strong wind, fairly heavy sea, visibility 5–8 nautical miles, locally two. The convoy with RA 9 announced by divisional G 8879 anchors in St Malo roads during the night. 13:00: I order V 204/13 to escort patrol boat 1510 and RA 9 to Cherbourg; departure reported to the divisions [typed 3+2]. 20:00–24:00: [handwritten instruction to anchor off Guernsey, wording partly unclear] opposing tide and heavy sea off Guernsey; then resume passage to Cherbourg. The remaining convoys proceed as planned.
Correction to 23 May: item 6, delete Bordsee because of heavy seas; item 7, ready Jersey. Situation: V 208/09 Jersey–Guernsey continuation with Holland, then ready for 24/25 May Holland night troop convoy Guernsey–St Malo; V 207/02 leave Alderney for submarine watch under divisional Gkdos 1593, then return for daytime Alderney–Cherbourg convoy not yet known; V 203/06 unready St Malo; V 205 unready Cherbourg; V 211 ready St Malo; V 204/13 St Malo–Cherbourg with V 1510 and RA 9, departure about 13:00; SF 108/110 Jersey–St Malo night troop convoy with Ad. le Prince and Nordplain. Tonnage 2,500 GRT.
