Overcast, later clearing; visibility 5–6 nautical miles, ENE 6–7, rough sea, occasional moonlight. 0145: HS 192 returned because the sea was too rough. 1030: Vp 201/206 departed for Cherbourg with Midland and Olwe. During the night the storm drove the floating crane from berth 1 onto the rocks by the mole, holing it. The caisson head of the middle mole was destroyed.
