23 March 1942 St Malo convoy diary

Weather: NE stiff to stormy wind, visibility 2 nautical miles, rather rough sea. After discussion with the 3rd Security Division, V 212/V 211 remain ready St Malo for cable steamer Olwe, which will sail towards Sept Îles on 24 March if the weather permits. RO 45 and Holland, cancelled on 22 March owing to fog, sail at 22:00 for Jersey with V 210/V 208. V 204/V 209, ordered Cherbourg–Guernsey, arrive Guernsey about 21:00. V 207/V 206 arrived there about 20:00 to exchange V 207 for V 209; V 209 is ordered to clean boilers at St Malo.

Correction to 22 March, point 4: ready St Malo owing to fog; escorted tonnage a dash. Situation: V 213 condenser repair Brest; V 212/V 211 ready St Malo for Olwe, sailing weather dependent; V 210/V 208 ready St Malo, night troop convoy RO 45, Holland and Hubbastone to Jersey; V 207/V 206 St Malo–Guernsey, exchanging V 207 for V 209 for boiler cleaning; V 204/V 209 Cherbourg–Guernsey with SF 108 and Inisulva if weather permits; V 205 dock Cherbourg. Escorted tonnage: 5,037 GRT.

Intention for 24 March: V 213 repair Brest; V 212/V 211 protect Olwe, weather permitting; V 210/V 208 Jersey–St Malo with Livadia and Holland; V 207/V 204 Guernsey–Alderney with Holstein, then Schwalbe and Claus Wilhelm to Cherbourg; V 206/V 209 Guernsey–St Malo; V 205 dock Cherbourg.
