Diary Entry

22 June 1944

The escort-control station at St Malo asked whether harbour-defence boats could escort Kimos and other vessels close along the coast east of Jersey. The naval staff observed that navigation would be extremely difficult because the necessary navigational aids were unavailable. Fighter-bombers attempted attacks on St Peter Port and St Helier at 21:09 and 21:50 but were driven off by defensive fire. A bomb attack on Battery Annes, Alderney, at 00:14 fell into the sea without effect. [T-1022/2174, PG 38469, scans 0555, 0558 and 0562]
