St Peter Port
Diary Entry
22 February 1943 Channel Islands Sea Defence diary
Weather: wind 23°, 9 m/sec. Harbour-protection positions 9 and 11 off St Peter Port could not be manned because of a shortage of harbour-protection boats. A report to the Commanding Admiral, Channel Coast, and the war-diary entry of 28 January had already pointed out that most boats of the Channel Islands Harbour Protection Flotilla were out of service for repairs. Unless replacements were supplied, the positions could not be fully manned then or in the immediate future.
A handwritten marginal comment calls for a firm or urgent demand for replacement [opening reading uncertain]. The remaining handwriting and initials cannot be read securely and are not expanded.
