Weather: wind north-north-east, force 4–6; sea state 2–4; visibility 3–5 nautical miles; cloud 5/10; cloud base 800 metres.
The courier voyage to Alderney fixed for 19:30 was postponed until 08:30 on 22 October.
Enemy vessels observed or detected during the day in convoy traffic — from Cherbourg: two escort destroyers and one freighter of 3,000–4,000 GRT, probably the cable-layer. To Cherbourg: several targets detected at 12:15 by the Alderney radar station.
