20 September 1942 Jersey Harbour Commandant diary
St Helier: Wind west, sea 5–6, high westerly swell. 0100: La Corbière and Sorel Point on. 0600: Sorel Point extinguished. 0730: La Corbière extinguished. 2100: La Corbière and harbour light on. 2200: Sorel Point on. 2240: Morse message from steamer Diamant via the mole naval signal station: “Have run aground; request tug assistance.” Diamant has grounded on Dogs Nest rock off the harbour entrance. 2315: Two harbour protection boats with pilots sailed to assist.
