20 June 1940

The German naval command stated that occupation of the British Channel Islands was urgent and ordered an examination of how it could be carried out. Luftflotte 2 was asked to conduct photographic reconnaissance, with particular attention to possible defences and landing conditions. The command also began examining which naval artillery units and other forces could be made available for the operation.
