Diary Entry

Continuation: 18 November; entries for 19 November 1944

18:00

Weather: wind south, force 5–6; sea state 3–4; visibility 7 nautical miles; cloud 9/10; cloud base 1,200 metres.

On my instructions, Convoy Control intended at 08:30 on 19 November to supply the Minquiers base from St Helier using F.K. 09/28, and at 09:00 to carry out a reconnaissance of the Écréhous from St Helier using A.F. 65 and F.K. 26/27. It was suspected that Jersey residents who had fled were hiding on the rocks or using the islands as an intermediate station in escaping to the mainland. The possibility of conducting regular fishing in these areas was also to be examined.
