18 March 1942 St Malo convoy diary

Weather: SSW fresh breeze to strong wind, visibility 5 nautical miles, moderate to rough sea. V 211/V 212 enter St Malo with Holland and Stier. V 210/V 206 leave Jersey at 01:00 with troops in Holstein, Diamant, Pointe à Pitre and Comptoir 51 for Granville, then R 45, Holstein, Favorit, Hubbastone and Claus Wilhelm for St Malo. After relief by V 204/V 209, V 211/V 212 had left Cherbourg with Stier for Alderney and then brought Holland via Guernsey to St Malo. All requested convoys were carried out.

Correction to 17 March, point 2: V 211/V 212 Cherbourg–Alderney with tug Stier. Situation: V 213 condenser repair Brest; V 211/V 212 Alderney–St Malo with Holland and Stier, arrival 10:30; V 210/V 206 Jersey–Granville with R 45, Holstein, Diamant, Pointe à Pitre, Comptoir 51, Hubbastone, Favorit and Claus Wilhelm, then St Malo with R 45, Holstein, Favorit, Hubbastone and Claus Wilhelm, arrival 13:00. V 204/V 209 listed Cherbourg–Guernsey with Livadia, then back to Alderney; V 208 cooling-water supply repair St Malo; V 205 dock Cherbourg; V 207 Brest–St Malo subject to weather. Escorted tonnage: 10,001 GRT.

Intention for 19 March, weather permitting: V 213 condenser repair Brest; V 211/V 212 and V 210/V 206 ready St Malo; V 204/V 209 Alderney–Cherbourg with Midsland and two coastal motor vessels; V 208 repair St Malo; V 205 dock Cherbourg; V 207 St Malo. Signed for the chief, Rall.
