The vessel Robert Müller 6 was assigned as a hospital ship for Jersey and Guernsey. After the return of La France, that vessel was also to be marked and employed as a hospital ship for the islands. [T-1022/2174, PG 38469, scan 0626]
At 20:15 Pondichery and Saigon sailed from Granville for Jersey carrying supplies; both vessels were lightly damaged by fighter-bombers. At 20:30 the steamer La France was struck by four bombs in the stern in St Malo harbour, was severely damaged and sank alongside the quay. Nestor and Tonkin sailed from St Malo for Granville at 22:00.
