Diary Entry
15 July 1942 Divisional review of the early June diary
3rd Security Division, secret G 3824 AII/zb, 15 July 1942, to Commander Security West; copy St Malo Convoy Office. Submits the 1–15 June diary in one copy. On original page 8: shortage of forces prevents stationing forces at Cherbourg specifically to protect patrol boats on station. However, motor torpedo boats, minesweeping launches and occasionally minesweeper flotillas are there and may intervene on contact. Surprise enemy attacks will generally be brief and sudden, making immediate effective support difficult.
On original page 12: the proposal to use naval transport ferries like those inspected at Amsterdam for island traffic deserves consideration. [A following request to approach Naval High Command is struck through.] Signed Hans Hartmann.
