14 February 1942 St Malo convoy diary
Convoys proceeded as intended, aided by weather and tidal streams. The 3rd Security Division’s G 2361 ordered the 40th Minesweeping Flotilla boats and V 1705 to prepare for Brest. At 10:00 I ordered M 4000/M 4006, on the Cherbourg–Guernsey passage, to continue to St Malo. V 1705/M 4005 were to turn off Guernsey to Jersey and bring a convoy to St Malo tomorrow. V 208/V 213 were to go to Cherbourg on 15 February to relieve M 4007/M 4008, which would then come to St Malo after the night convoy. Five minesweepers and V 1705 should consequently assemble tomorrow evening for Brest, once three boats of the 2nd Patrol Flotilla arrived.
Situation: V 208/V 212 ready St Malo. V 205/V 206/V 1705/M 4005 at 05:00 from Jersey with Holland to Granville; at 08:30 from Granville with Favorit, Le Prince, Claus Wilhelm, Point a Pietre and Comptoir 66 via Jersey to Guernsey. M 4007/M 4008 Cherbourg–Alderney and back overnight. V 213 boiler cleaning. M 4005/V 1705 Guernsey–Jersey without convoy; M 4000/M 4006 Guernsey–Cherbourg with Midsland, then without convoy to St Malo. Escorted tonnage: 3,370 GRT.
Intention for 15 February: V 208/V 213 after wireless repairs without convoy to Cherbourg to relieve M 4007/M 4008; V 205/V 206 Guernsey–Jersey without convoy. M 4007/M 4008 Cherbourg–St Malo without convoy after the night task. V 1705/M 4005 from Jersey with H 2, Holstein, B 113 S and two barges to St Malo. V 212/M 4000/M 4006 ready St Malo.
