Diary Entry

13 June 1942 St Malo convoy diary

Patrol position occupied as planned. No boats could be supplied for St Malo Roads during night 12/13 June: only one boat of 2nd Patrol Flotilla was in harbour and one of 12th Minesweeper Flotilla was unready. 03:45 Alderney: V 204/211 and Huxter leave via Guernsey and Jersey for St Malo. 05:25 Guernsey: V 703/726 and convoy arrive. 17:30 St Malo: V 204/211 and Huxter arrive.

Two anti-aircraft ferries in convoy 3274 of 46th Minesweeper Flotilla from Lézardrieux to Guernsey are impaired by engine damage; the group therefore enters St Malo. Two convoy boats have also dried out and can follow only four hours later. No reinforcement can be supplied for the convoy to Guernsey because every available patrol section is committed.

Correction to 12 June item 7: Huxter was shadowed only as far as Alderney. Situation: V 207/213 degaussing Cherbourg; V 206/202 Mikimaus overnight then ready Cherbourg; V 203/208 ready Guernsey for Holland troop convoy via Jersey, with Ad. le Prince to St Malo; V 703/726 finish Holland convoy Jersey–Guernsey, then ready for Antonius to Alderney during night 13/14 June; V 204/211 continue shadowing Huxter Alderney–Guernsey–Jersey–St Malo; V 209 ready St Malo. Tonnage 2,000 GRT.

Intentions for 14 June [heading types May]: V 207/213 at Mikimaus overnight, then ready; V 206/202 Mikado overnight, then ready; V 206/213 ready to escort Minotaure and tug to St Malo; V 203/208 complete Holland and Ad. le Prince troop convoy Jersey–St Malo, then ready; V 703/726 alone Alderney–Guernsey in morning, then patrol station from evening; V 204/209 alone St Malo–Granville then collected convoy to Jersey; V 209/M 1206 St Malo Roads overnight for division; V 211 ready St Malo.
