13 April 1944 Channel Islands Sea Defence diary

Weather: wind from 180°, 5 metres per second. 10:16–12:00: live-firing alert exercise by Guernsey Artillery Group. Ammunition expenditure: Batterie Strassburg, eleven 22-cm rounds, designation Stg. 534 (f), C.F.A. (Üb.), and eleven practice-charge cartridges; Batterie Steinbruch, ten 15-cm high-explosive shells L 4,6 Kz. m.H. and ten practice-charge cartridges. [Technical ammunition designations retained.] No malfunctions.

12:38: Batterie Strassburg fired on seven Typhoons bearing 50°, passing north to south, range 1,600 metres, altitude 100 metres. Several hits observed on the fourth aircraft, which the diary reports crashed in BF 2696, upper right. No enemy counteraction; no German losses. Ammunition expenditure: 155 rounds of 2-cm Oerlikon ammunition. [Aircraft loss is the diary's claim.]

The assembly team for Batterie Mirus's Würzburg-Riese radar arrived.
