11 December 1942 St Malo Convoy Control Office

Weather: South-west force 6–5, cloudy, visibility 10 nautical miles, sea 3–4, moderate south-west swell.

Today’s tasks were the same as yesterday: (1) night troop convoy Guernsey–Jersey–Malo by V 213/09; (2) Rob. Müller 8, Ostvlandern and Nordplein Guernsey–Jersey by M 4611/12; (3) Tinda and Franka Cherbourg–Alderney, escorted by V 711/22 instead of the 2nd Patrol Boat Flotilla boats which were to go to Malo; (4) V 711/22 on return to bring Gerfried and Tinda Alderney–Cherbourg; (5) combined convoy Granville–Jersey–Guernsey, for which M 4602/04/05 proceeded independently Malo–Granville.

0600, Malo: M 4602/04/05 sailed for Granville to collect the combined convoy for Jersey–Guernsey. 1000, Granville: M 4602/04/05 arrived from Malo. Remark: here too the boats had to enter harbour owing to weather and postpone the convoy until the following day. The weather made part of the intentions doubtful.

The following was sent to 3rd Security Division. Corrections to 10 December: item 1, V 703/04 convoy Karel Guernsey–Alderney cancelled owing to weather; items 7, 8, 9 and 10 cancelled owing to weather. Corrected escorted tonnage: 700 GRT.

Situation for 11 December: (1) V 703/04 night troop convoy of 11/12 December Karel Guernsey–Alderney; (2) V 213/09 night troop convoy of 11/12 December from Guernsey with RO 21 and Minotaure, from Jersey with Holland and RO 8, to Malo; (3) M 4611/12 Rob. Müller 8, Nordplein and Ostvlandern Guernsey–Jersey; (4) M 4605/02/04 Malo–Granville, entered harbour owing to weather; (5) V 711/22 and V 212/08/10 ready at Cherbourg; (6) M 4600/01/03 ready at Malo [03 as printed here and in intentions]; (7) V 207 coaling at Malo. Escorted tonnage: 7,100 GRT.

Intentions for 12 December: (1) V 703/04 night troop convoy of 12/13 December Karel Alderney–Guernsey; (2) V 213/09 complete night troop convoy of 11/12 December Guernsey–Jersey–Malo; (3) M 4611/12 combined convoy Jersey–Malo; (4) M 4605/02/04 combined convoy Granville–Jersey–Guernsey; (5) V 711/22 convoy Cherbourg–Alderney and back; (6) V 212/08/10 independently Cherbourg–Malo; (7) M 4600/01/03 Malo–Jersey with Paul et Janine; (8) V 207 ready at Malo.

1915, Malo: M 4620/21/22/23/24/25 sailed for route sweeping with ORG towards Cherbourg. 2000, Guernsey: V 703/04 sailed with Karel for Alderney. Convoys in task items 3 and 4 were cancelled owing to weather, as was the passage of V 212/10/08 to Malo. 2315, Alderney: V 703/04 arrived with Karel from Guernsey. Signed Dr Diederichs.
