Normandy radar reporting station — 1944-04-11

Night 11/12 April. Wind SSW–SW1, visibility 8–12 nautical miles, sea 1–2. Mammut Jobourg tracked enemy convoy 1335–1430 from upper centre BF3171 to left centre 2393; also 1530–1600 from centre 3171 to upper-right 3171. FuMO51 Cap de la Hague II tracked enemy convoy 1832–2010 from upper centre BF2393 to lower-right edge 3143.

Radar-interception bearings: 0031 in upper-right BF2636; 0085 [sic] in lower-right 2632; 0102 in upper-right 2634; 0104 in lower-right 3518, then centre 3551. Moved back and forth there until 0223, then departed north; 0250 upper-right BF3519. Confirmed by Jobourg radar detections 0135–0139 in BF3551. Three enemy locating signals to warn own convoys. Last interception bearing 0300 in centre BF3179; locating signal 0314: target lost. All reports to Sea Commandant Normandy and 3rd Security Division.

Jobourg radar 0314–0333 enemy target from upper centre BF3519 to centre 3542. Changing course and speed. Not confirmed by radar interception. Detections immediately to Sea Commandant Normandy. Report 0337 concerning unknown targets BF3542 to Sea Commandant Channel Islands.

Jobourg radar further unknown contacts 0433–0509 from lower-right corner BF3527 via upper-left corner 3528 to lower centre 3525, departing at high speed. FuMO51 Hague II confirmed detections 0428–0513. Detections to Sea Commandant Normandy from 0436. From 0453 to 0514 Jobourg radar linked for battle with Sea Commandant Normandy, Battery 3/1262 and Naval Artillery Battalion 260. No firing. Three locating signals for navigational assistance to own vessels radioed.
