10 September 1942 Channel Islands Sea Defence diary
Weather: wind from 45°, 2–3 metres per second.
18:00: one thousand litres of diesel arrived on Alderney for Batterie Elsass’s generators, restoring full combat readiness. With approval from Naval Commander Channel Coast’s engineering authority, naval petrol stocks were released for Batterie West’s construction so work would not be delayed.
Salvage attempts on Henka continued during the day but were abandoned that evening as impossible. The wreck continued drifting between Cherbourg and Cap de la Hague.
20:00: Casquets outer light out of action because of machinery damage; radio unusable. Local resources could not repair the damage. Pilot Command Trouville informed. 23:30: Luftwaffe radar located ship targets in grid 3541. 23:43: Army Coastal Battery Blücher on Alderney opened fire on them.
