Normandy radar reporting station — 1943-10-10
Night 10/11 October. Wind SE–E1–2, visibility 3–5 nautical miles, sea 1. Air Force Mammut-C Jobourg tracks enemy convoys 1158–1217 from upper centre BF2369 to upper-right corner BF2368 and 1303–1312 in upper BF3147, course 270°, speed 12 knots. Confirmed by reporting head 8/3 monitoring English fighter voice radio. 2200: Reporting head 8/3 reports English radio station giving position of German ship movement 270° from unknown fixed point. 2205: Above report passed to 3rd Security Division (Lieutenant Wart). Probably based on English radar detections, as very good radar propagation weather. Our sets also detected fixed targets on English coast. Thick fog over sea, calm. 2226: Discussion with 3rd Security Division regarding above report. 0308: Jersey probably detected fog west of island; transmitted enemy signal was false detection. Seventeen locating signals for navigational assistance. Increased defensive readiness 1930–0730.
