Weather: wind from 180°, 7 metres per second.
No special occurrences.
Construction, Naval Artillery Battalion 604 — Batterie Mirus. Damping motors installed in the elevation systems of all four guns. Acceptance by the Weapons Technical Test Establishment of Kiel Naval Dockyard ended on 9 October; no defects known. Ammunition-handling rails fitted in all four shell chambers. Supply tunnels completed at Nos. 1 and 2; work at Nos. 3 and 4 continued. Interior fitting and equipment of accommodation bunkers and backfilling continued. Following discussion with Engineer Staff 19 on 7 October, that staff was preparing a new plan for the battery’s wire obstacles. Work already begun at Nos. 3 and 4 was incorporated into the new plan and continued.
Batterie Strassburg: no changes. Batterie Steinbruch: Seipa receivers were being installed at all four guns to enable indirect laying. Interiors of the surrounding structures complete except painting and lighting. Backfilling complete; excavation for crew bunkers begun. Auxiliary fire-control post sufficiently complete for fire to be controlled from there.
Naval Artillery Battalion 605 — Batterie West. Fire-control post: work not continued. Turret 1: defective areas of bunker repaired. Turret 2: structure poured. Turret 3: shuttering continued. Turret 4: work not continued. Machinery bunker: unchanged. Excavation continued for an ammunition-replenishment bunker between Nos. 3 and 4 guns. Galley and communal room: galley cellar poured. Perimeter wire obstacles continued. Motor-garage base poured.
