Diary Entry
10 May 1941 Proposal to withdraw Machine Gun Battalion 16 from Guernsey
Proposals were requested on whether Machine-Gun Battalion 16 could be withdrawn from Guernsey to advance its training on the mainland; whether it had to be replaced, by what force, and whether it could be trained on the island. Formation of missing third artillery batteries was to be prepared so they could be established immediately when equipment and recruits arrived; recruits could initially serve as gun numbers, since learning the gun drills was not difficult.
