1 May 1942 Alderney Harbour Captain diary

Clear, visibility 6–8 nautical miles; N 1–2, slight sea. 0640: HS 29/183 departed for Cherbourg. 0720: RO 8 arrived from Guernsey with two 8.8 cm guns for the newly formed heavy 4th Battery, Flak 496; the escort boats did not enter harbour. 0755: Henca, Gerfried and Antonius departed for Cherbourg with patrol-boat escort. 1615: Claus, Lena and Schwalbe arrived from Cherbourg; the escort boats did not enter. 2200: HS 29/35 departed for patrol position. 2320: RO 8 departed for Guernsey.
