Today would be the 179th day of the Islands Occupation with 1,595 days remaining.
 

" Boxing Day. Dances were held at the Pavilion and The Plaza, the German troops attending in large numbers at the last moment the curfew was extended until midnight. "

80 years ago today

26th of December 1940

British cruiser HMS Bonaventure intercepted German ship Baden 500 miles west of Cape Finisterre, Spain. Baden's crew abandoned the ship after setting scuttling charges to prevent capture; HMS Bonaventure then sank Baden.

- only the tower and the administrative block were unscathed
